Africa-Swiss Solidarity of Home

As a non-profit organization, the ASSoH association supports people in Central and West Africa. We feel responsible for our fellow human beings and take the initiative to no longer stand idly by and watch the often inhumane conditions in the South. ASSoH stands up for human dignity, social justice, human rights and the right to education.

As basic work, the first thing we stand for is the satisfaction of general basic needs such as food, housing, shelter, clothing, education, work and health. In addition, we advocate for equal rights, protection against exploitation, the right to security, integration and recognition, and the right to cultural identity.

We want to improve the living conditions of children, young people and women and give them a chance for the future. This is to be achieved through facilities for street children, abandoned disabled people, working children or for children who have lost their parents to AIDS. In doing so, we try to fulfill the need for humane circumstances and security and to secure the rights to nutrition, health and education. The livelihood of communities should be improved.

The initiative of the association comes from the affected people themselves. We act only as a support, so that the support meets a real need.

Our Mission

Our mission is to meet the general basic needs of people in need such as food, shelter, clothing, education, employment and health.

Our Vision

Our vision is to help people in need while they exist and ensure they are self-sufficient and have a sustainable place to live.

Our Story

How We Get Started?

The founder of this project is Jane Zeller from Kumba, Cameroon, who, comes from a Christian background of the Catholic Church, has been worried, like Mother Theressia, about the sufferings of the children and those who have either lost their parents or have been brought up in a very hard situation with nobody to support them.

This has been a disturbing problem in the Cameroonian society that needs to be addressed. For humanitarian reasons, this foundation has been set up to care for the helpless and the street children in order to support and improve their living conditions and assure them a bright future.

Who Are We?

The Saint George Orphanage is an independent, not-for-profit social centre taking care of abandoned and homeless children. The centre is based in Kumba, South West of Cameroon. The activities of the centre evolves around the Kumba municipality and the South West Province as a whole.
